Naturopathic Medicine Week 2026 - Day 1

April 30, 2026

Naturopathic Medicine Week Quiz Question #1 - What’s the biggest reason Lyme disease is often missed?

What’s the biggest reason Lyme disease is often missed?

A) People don’t notice tick bites
B) Symptoms mimic other conditions
C) Testing isn’t always reliable
D) All of the above

Answer: D

Lyme disease is often missed because it doesn’t always present in a clear or textbook way. Many people never notice a tick bite—ticks can be incredibly small, sometimes as tiny as a poppy seed, and their bites are usually painless. On top of that, symptoms like fatigue, joint pain, brain fog, and mood changes can easily be mistaken for other conditions such as stress, hormonal imbalances, or autoimmune issues. Even testing has limitations, especially if done too early or if the immune response isn’t strong enough to register. Altogether, this creates a perfect storm where Lyme can fly under the radar unless you’re looking at the full clinical picture.
