The Sunshine Vitamin

May 13, 2024

True or False: Some people should still take vitamin D3 (the 'sunshine vitamin') in the summertime.

Answer: True. Depending on your vitamin D3 serum level (the level measured on blood work), you may require vitamin D3 supplementation all year long. It also depends on how much time you spend outdoors, your skin tone, and how much sunscreen you use. Lastly, it depends where on Earth you live. The more northern you live (north of the equator), the harder it is to have adequate vitamin D3 levels, even during the summer months.
